The following photos I took primarily for my own purposes. Having shipped my old bike via bikeflights.com and packed by Joe @ Joe's Garage in Haydenville I wanted to have these photos to refer to for packing the bike for the return trip. The first is with the top cover removed.
Removing the first foam divider reveals how much the bike had to be deconstructed to fit it into the crate. BTW the crate was borrowed from the NCC. Notice that the rear d (lower left wrapped up) had to be removed along with the front brake (upper right attached to the handlebar) and the handlebar itself was removed along with the seat & seatpost. Removing the front brake was necessary in order to rotate the fork so that everything would fit. Three frame ties complete this part of the process.
The following five photos are closeups of the above mentioned details.
Between the bike frame and what is pictured below was another foam divider that lay on this hard plastic divider with hole cutouts for the wheels. Notice the caps on the axel ends. The skewers had to be removed and are taped in the plastic bag right in the center of the picture.
With the hard plastic divider removed all that is left are the wheels laying in the bottom of the case.
It didn't take too long to put the bike together though I did have to make a few brake adjustments.
With the reconstruction completed it was time to head into the hills pictured behind me wearing NCC colors.
